So? A small woman owns the business? Or the small business is owned by a woman? I wouldn't buy from her because her use of "English" is atrocious ;-)

You fail to understand..certain businesses get an advantage when selling to the government. Minorty owned, veteran owned, woman owned, small business; there may be others but that is all i can think of right now. And, BTW, just order the damn things without the bitching!

Advantage when selling to the government.?? I guess the US military would be a major buyer of magnetic cores. Is it a tax break perhaps? I don't know how that works...

I've seen hundreds of web pages, it's the first time I've seen "Small, woman-owned business'.

And, it may not matter where you are, but in the US it can make a difference to certain buyers who are required by contract to give preferences to minority owned businesses... (Q: do you have such a thing there, too?)

Pretty cheezy, although here in the U.S. you can -- in some cases -- get preferential treatment from the government if you're a minority-owned business. I was at a defense electronics show once (which, as you'd guess, has the government for the vast majority of the customers) and they literally had an entire hall devoted to such businesses.

I suppose that if I were a minority I'd try to use it for all it was worth too. :-)

The "preferential treatment" usually translates into, "if a minority-owned business bids a contract at the same price or even a skosh higher than a non-minority-owned business, the MOB will get the contract."

I absolutely know nothing...nadda..zip... about a government business being forced to or being 'paid off' to buy cores from a 'small, woman owned business.'

Too funny! I don't care either. However, I always have a hard time with a woman as a boss. It just seems like those I've run across overcompensate.
