I went to a fastener supply company some time ago that advertised the fact that they were a Woman Owned Minority Business. I liked the alphabetization:
W.O.M.B.

In some cases? Get real, the government purchaser is required, by regulation and/or internal rules, to survey all the small business offerings for the product, allow up to 25% over the large business prices, and justify, extensively with documentation, a final decision to reject the small business offerings. Furthermore, the purchasing department clerks are given bonus incentives based on total purchases from small businesses. This incredibly asinine, wasteful, and costly policy, a policy of the worst government in the world, the United States government, not only applies to purchasing, but also extends to employment and workplace practices such as hiring and promotions. Of course, the damage does not stop there, especially in DoD, there are VERY serious national security issues that result from this. Only an ignorant and delusion cretin like JT would have anything good to say about how the US is managed, or more precisely, mismanaged, the damage is real, irreparable, pervasive, and unlimited.
Just go sit on a park bench and eventually the white businessmen will approach you to be their token minority front 'person'.
Poor baby Fred. Did a woman-owned business take away your job? Nevermind that you weren't competent to fill it in the first place.

No such thing happened to me, and the idea that an overspecialized simpleton like you should pretend to evaluate my job performance is beyond laughable...
Fred, Are you struggling there to find an insult ?:-) Maybe you're not specialized enough?
...Jim Thompson
There's one thing you clearly do NOT understand. It is impossible to specialize very much in large systems work, too many goddammed technologies involved, too much sheer volume, and usually cutting edge application of everything. On my last job, it's not an exaggeration for me to claim wading through *at least* 50,000 pages of documentation of every imaginable sort and scope, most of the technical stuff written for the specialist, totally disorganized, no beginning and no end, no background, no tutorials, no mentoring, no assistance of any kind, everything requiring serious study, memorization, background reading, re-reading again, going back to something else, reviewing, just went on forever, every last bit of everything in a rapid state of flux, no constants, major revisions all the time, gigabytes of new disc documentation coming in monthly. It took me a full year to come up to speed on the whole sheebang, with a detailed working knowledge of a only a very few aspects, and very limited authorization to intervene in the work.
k.
Is this a page from your resum=E9?
Right, my 50,000 page resume..:-) I'm a quick study, do it for real or not at all, and rub elbows with senior technical fellows at major corporations...
Sounds like a huge, boring waste of time.
With no authorization to act, what's the point?
John
Yes indeedy. _Everyone_ has heard of Fred Bloggs ;-)

Originally my job was to write maybe semiannual technical assessment reports of certain capabilities, then it expanded a bit into design of certain kinds of testing, and then a bit more into analysis of data sets...And as for boring, no doubt, group members were regularly nodding out at planning meetings, more from information overload than anything else.
Isn't that just incredible:-) Not real concerned about it though, don't work on it anymore.
They saw through his drag when he claimed to be the woman owning the business. It wasn't his clothes, or makeup. They caught him in the men's room with his skirt up, pissing in the urinal.
It gets him a job cleaning bathrooms for the biggest companies in the world, like McDonald's, Burger King...
Are you sure? I'm certain that "Fred" has to sit down to pee ;-)

Sure, NOW 'She' does, but that was before the final surgery.
It should distact from the meagre website. No shop, no part list, no price list. Just a phone muber and email. Others call that a zero-content-site.

Not all of them. I passed a McDonalds a month ago, late on a Friday evening. I passed it Monday morning and it was an empty lot. Building and parking lot gone, nothing left but dirt and a bulldozer. I guess they gave up trying to keep that one usable and razed it. The bathroom there always had an odor to it, and I never used it, if I had any choice. Luckily, a friend owns a business a couple blocks away.
