Love it!

My Georgia buddies are finally zeroing in on the fact that they must characterize a certain critical component rather than relying on PhD papers... I've been trying to get them to do that since day-one... arguing their theories did not compute ;-)

Here's another quote:

My great uncle Bob still lives, worked with him, & had stories last reunion I went to. Cool guy, my great uncle Bob. We call him "The Rocket Man."

Yesterday the House passed legislation taking pensions away from members convicted of bribery and corruption. But the new law isn't retroactive. So former members already convicted, like Cunningham, will keep their pensions, all at taxpayers' expense, of course. "He could start out with an annual retirement of $64,000 that would grow with the cost of living each year," says Pete Sepp of the National Taxpayers Union And Congressman Cunningham is not alone. Some 15 other disgraced former members of Congress are also collecting these pensions. Convicted Illinois representative Dan Rotstenkowski still draws over 100 thousand dollars a year. But current members facing criminal investigation, including Tom Delay, won't be so lucky if they end up convicted.

Yes therein lies the UN's greatest weakness; it has no troops of it's own but must rely on the actual troops provided by member nations which has always been substantially less that what is promised which is always less than necessary for effective action.

I've more or less given up on trying to follow political corruption, anywhere. I now assume that in all political systems there is substantial corruption.

The death penalty for political corruption, would sharpen political ethics.

And provide great entertainment for all indeed. Who cares if some mentally defective, poverty stricken sad sack is executed? But we'd pay to see Tom DeLay and his cronies sent home to Jeezus.

Its design is fundamentally an anachronism waiting to happen. Imagine if the UN had been created when the League of Nations was created. WWI allies Japan and Italy would have been permanemt members of the security council, and would have had veto power going into WWII.
