No normal board

I've been having a look on the Radio Spares website (rswww.com) and I can't seem to find any normal board for soldering components onto like in the old days - I visited Maplin today and they don't have any either. Does only strip board exist these days or is it still possible to get the type where the copper is only around holes and not in strips?

thanks for any replies,

Iceberg

Quite a few of the prototype boards sold with sections round the outside for specific support devices (PIC's etc.), have sections like this. You will also find quite a few people doing 'tie point' board, which has small groups of linked holes (like a compromise between stripboard, and solder matrix board), which is done to match some of the plug in prototyping boards:

Twin Industries and Vector still make it. Mouser sell both; see pages 1566 and 1568 of their latest catalog (which you can do online at

It's expensive, though - you could almost get it custom-made for you by a PCB fab for cheaper! (There'd be a surcharge for the large number of holes, though.)

Circuit Specialists also sell a lot of prototyping boards, and the OnePas boards mentioned in another post are good, but neither are the "one pad per hole" type you're looking for.

Reichelt in Germany carries them. From their catalogue:

H25PR150 Euro 1.60 150x100mm H25PR160 Euro 1.65 160x100mm H25PR200 Euro 2.05 200x100mm H25PR500 Euro 5.00 500x100mm

The prices include the German VAT of 16%. They tell you what these boards should cost whereever you by them.

Martin.

The Futurlec company sells two different stripboards. Go to

The point is he doesn't want 'stripbopard'. Notice 'not in strips'. He wants the stuff like the prototyping area normally left on the corner of a development board. Effectively 'matrix' board, but with each hole having a small pad. Exactly what futurlec show on the left hand side of their USB development board.

Oops, sorry, I thought 'twas the 'tother way 'round. For those kinds of boards, I would go to Radio Snack. Futurlec also has one here.

Did you try Mouser

? Their catalog shows some pad-per-hole pattern in the Vectorboard section.

MPJA has a selection.

On the left hand side, click on P.C. Boards, then click on Proto Boards. If the following link works, it will take you there directly:
