40mm fan with sensor?

I'm trying to replace

with something quieter (and probably slower), and probably with ball bearings. Note that in this application it must have the fan sensor (3-lead fan) so the alarm will not go off...

I've found

and

but I'm not sure what their quality is like.

Anyone have any suggestions for good quality fan vendors? The original one is 10mm thick, but there's plenty of room for a thicker one.

Thanks!

Digi-Key sells nearly the same fan (Sunon KDE1204PFB1 MS.M) and claims

31 dBA. Most of the other 40 mm fans they sell have a similar sound rating.

I thought these sensors were usually a tachometer with so many pulses per revolution - you can tell that the fan is turning at X rpm. It seems there are some that are just a rotation sensor switch - fan is turning or not. If the device this fan is used with can report fan rpm, it's probably the former, but if all it knows is "fan fail", it could be the latter.

Digi-Key sells Panasonic and Comair/Rotron fans, and Mouser sells EBM-Papst fans. All of these are probably more "well known" names than Sunon.

Note that fans from these sources will probably come with just lead wires; you'll need to cut the connector off of your old fan and splice it on to the new one.
