Technics Amp

I have an SA-GX690 Technics AV stereo receiver (about ten years old) it has never had any thing wrong with it before, but now it trips the overload. If i listen to it at medium volume it's fine but after increasing the level it shuts down and needs turning off then on again to work again. Would it be simply dust inside causing it to run hotter or something simple? Any help appreciated Philip

**Check for shorts on the speaker cables, or inside the speakers. You can determine this by alternately connecting one set of speaker cables.

Is the FAN working?? Try wiring it so its allways on. Does it get hot on top of the case??

Speaker wires appear to allright, fan is working and not getting any hotter than usual. Amp will run at half throttle all day without tripping but soon as volume is turned up it shuts down.
