Lap timming kit or curcuit for racing

Hi,

I am looking for a kit or circuit to build a lap timer that will give times for every lap and has an interface for a transponder unit for up to 4-6 transponders.

Any one do this sort of kit? or would it be a computer based job.

I want to use this for motor X racing practice.
