So it's a cheap crappy turntable with a built in A-D and USB interface. So what?
They're the only sort of records you would want to play on such a piece of crap. Buy a decent turntable if you do actually have records worth recording.

No it doesn't. It measures the reflective angle in an attempt to acquire the audio information from the disk's audio content. They've never worked half as well as a standard player in good condition. They tend to be best at playing the crud in the grooves instead of the grooves.
Jeez he was just pointing out a convenient one-box solution. Ease up on the angry pills!
