ION Turntable

Anyone seen this? It's a USB based turntable for copying traditional records to a computer or digital recording source....

Looks like an interesting gadget to be sure, if only those boxes of records had not warped they could be played.

And on a related note here's a laser based turntable that uses a laser like a CD player to play records

So it's a cheap crappy turntable with a built in A-D and USB interface. So what?

They're the only sort of records you would want to play on such a piece of crap. Buy a decent turntable if you do actually have records worth recording.

No it doesn't. It measures the reflective angle in an attempt to acquire the audio information from the disk's audio content. They've never worked half as well as a standard player in good condition. They tend to be best at playing the crud in the grooves instead of the grooves.
