Help with Hoover Commodore 5.0 kg washing machine

Hello All,

We have a Hoover Commodore 5kg washer which has stopped working this morning. On the drain/spin cycle it's just sitting there with a low quiet hum - you can still hear the cycle knob clicking though. Is it possible that it has a dead pump?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

I think you are right, as logically that is the only cycle when the pump is activated, to pump out the water from the wash bowl. Its possible that it is a noisy relay, electric clutch or solenoid valve somewhere too

Might be worth taking the pump/motor out and checking to make sure there isn't some foreign matter (coins, pen, underwire from bra etc) in the pump impeller that's jamming it and stopping the motor turning.

Good news that if it is the motor and it is making a humming sound, and not producing a smell and smoke, motor probably isnt burnt out.
