simple help..4-6 inch tall minute clock.

Apologies if off topic, but I have searched google and found nothing...Perhaps someone here can lead me in the right direction... I am looking for the following...an LED or LCD minute clock ( just 2 digits)

4-6 inches in height and is high visibility, prefer AC power.

Perhaps a link to a kit or schematic so that I can build it myself.

Thanks for any info. Brandon

Digikey makes large LEDs of about 5" that come in red or green, CA or CC. They're not cheap at US$38.70 each. Then all you need is a few logic IC's or a microcontroller and some drive power of 40 to

60mA/segment continuous or PWM'd at up to 180mA/segment. Some cheap transistors and resistors would take care of the LED driving. I would use a microcontroller such as a PIC rather than fuss with discrete counter and decoder chips, but I'm prejudiced like that. ;-) For a power source, I recommend you use a regulated wall wart that's capable of putting out about 10W (5V at 2A).
