I have a Pabst 4414F axial fan with the following description:
"Electronically commutated external rotor motor. Fully integrated commutation electronics."
Does this mean that it is a brushless fan???

Yep, that's "Electronically commutated", "external rotor" means the moving part is the outside of the motor. As such it sounds fairly typical of the fans seen in PCs .

Do you think they really care what the motor says, after they're out of beer? ;-)
