Tic Tac Toe Quest

Possibly a very famous assignment for students doing computer science. But I have never ever written a game.

I recommend the exercise. It's quite different from the "normal" type of programming we do in every day programming. At least, those of us who don't work at gaming companies.

In comp.lang.c, I recommend starting with /SDL Game Development/ by Shaun Mitchell. I prefer that book over the lazy fu tutorial, or what- ever it's called.

It should be trivial to port the code to SDL3.

That said, my professional game development "career" if we can use that term, was limited to C# in then-Unity. Since then, Unity has changed license terms, so I can't recommend it anymore.

Maybe I'll make a commercial game in SDL one of these years.

There's no C# group that I know of, so I'll add comp.theroy instead.

Gaming programming and related graphics are very related to cartoons, animation, robotics and puppeteering (muppets). :)

Not at all. You seem to believe in /beautiful mathematics/. Why don't you prove some linear algebra then? What is your favorite linear algebra textbook?

You spelled VAXen wrong. I was not aware of any gaming VAXen. Is there already a VAX in the Raspberry form factor?

I think you mixed up my reply with another thread about VAX and maybe "VAXen".

I and my classmate did write a simple line editor using Pascal in a VAX environemnt (VAX/VMS?). My copy of its source codes were lost.

I knew another classmate doing a final-year project using VAX as well, about converting a distribution graph back to a spreadsheet.
