yes.
Usenet died a couple of decades ago. Be the change you want to see in the world.
I think the Wayland dialogue exhausted itself.
But I'll shoot in a new question!
I use a raspberry 3a+ for my tv, and it is great although a bit underpowered for kodi. The reason I choose that model is that it fits. Due to the big port module on a 3b those bigger boards don't fit.
Does anyone know of something similar to the 3a+ but in modern form with a bit more power and cpu?
Sadly the raspberry 4 and 5 seem to double down on the big form factor and it is too big to fit behind my tv. =(
Best regards, Daniel
Pi Zero 2w perhaps.
I think the google groups filter is working, so google group people goes to the bit bitbucket in the sky :)

no Spam, good :) we are around, reading :)

There's no general G2 filter, the various news server admins worked hard to just filter spam from G2, instead of everything. Individual users may have their own filter, mine marks-as-read messages from G2 users who aren't whitelisted, but it also tags them, so I can spot new candidates for my whitelist.
It turns out that in the rPi group there's only been one G2 user (Nelson) since october (not counting gmail users who don't use G2).
Nonsense.
What happened is that all those AOL people moved to twatter and faecesbook
lots of people just use gmail because it's convenient
yes, but plenty of people who have a gmail address use real nntp servers instead of google groups, some folks elsewhere concocted their own filters binning everyone matching from:*@gmail.com instead of message-id:*@googlegroups.com
that's what I mean. I did see some people earnestly discuss just filtering every gmail.com address when the usenet improvement project came around.
Yes, and as we all know, convenience trumps everything: cost, efficiency, security, even personal safety. (The latter might not apply to Usenet, but it does to things like the 737 MAX.)
I've found that the massive flood of spam which has hit many newsgroups contains a tell-tale "Injection-Info" header. I use slrn, and by adding stanzas like the following to ~/News/Source:
[comp.*.*] Score: =-9999 Expires: 9/14/2024 Injection-Info: google* Newsgroup: comp\.*\.*I lose all the spam while still seeing legitimate messages from gmail vict^H^H^H^Husers.
I have a Pi 3Bv1.2 and found it was pretty good as a TV front-end
Dunno about the space, must be pretty tight behind your TV if a couple of usb/eth ports stop it fitting?
Not powerful enough I'm afraid, but thank you for the tip.
Correct. I have a very flat Oled tv and power sockets in the middle of the wall, so I have about 1 cm or so between the tv and the wall. Just enough for an 3a+.
In the old USENET, that would never have happened ...
Suppose the Kodi GUI is a little obese? Then try a different player. Install mpv for example. It doesn't even has a GUI. But front ends exists if it does the job.
