Sony PS-LX500 Turntable

I just picked up a Sony PS-LX500 Turntable that doesn't work. I believe it is part of an all-in-one home system as it has a 6 conductor flat cable as well as the usual dual RCA plugs and AC connector.

The unit does not work. Power does come on and speed button does change from 33 to 45 when pressed but nothing else happen, i.e. turntable does not spin and it is a direct drive unit (no belts)

What I would like to know is if the flat cable needs to be connected for the unit to work. Or if someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction on where to troubleshoot (no manual in possession)

Also if I could push my luck, if those of you with info could email me snipped-for-privacy@earthlink.net that would be most appreciated.

Thanx in Advance Jim

For other manual sellers, needles, maybe belts,

The flat cable only lets it be controlled by a Sony audio system remote control. It should operate manually without it.

Thanx for the info. I did find out what my problem is...the tonearm belt is slipping...when I wound it back to the rest area the motor began to run.
