Sansui 5000A Output Transistors

Were the original output transistors in this receiver 2SD118? The receiver I am working on has a mixture of two 2SD118, one NTE118 and one NTE284. (all NPN)

Thanks, Don and Liz

Did you mean NTE181?

NTE284 - 100watt TO3 case.

2SD118 NLA - NTE 284MCP would sub.

Toshiba 2SD118 original device, NTE = OEM replacement.

Yes, the 2SD118 transistors are the correct originals. Fair warning though that these things were a common failure if you didn't replace the driver board as well. If your driver board doesn't say F-6013, then you have the older type which was unstable.

Good luck.
