Samsung picture tubes!

I have seen two Samsung T.V.'s with bad CRT's just lately Model # TXJ

2754, TXJ2750 A68ADT25X01 CRT in both cases. Arcing orange inside. Like the vacuum is gone out of them. Anyone see this in this CRT # ? Also, where do I get a CRT cross reference with newer CRT's? Looked online allover, & "Googled" it. Can't find one with anything higher than A68AEC00X, to cross with the ones I have found bad. Thanks, Dani.

I'm not aware of the existence of any sort of CRT crossreference. I have had reasonably good luck with tube swaps, though mostly with older equipment. Generally if it will physically fit then it will work. Electrically most CRTs of similar type are pretty much the same.

That is a Thomson made crt. I am not sure if Samsung also used the bonded yoke like JVC did when they used this crt. The Samsung sets will have a pin hole in the glass under the yoke. The few I have seen look like they had some vertical circuit malfunction putting the electron beam directly on the glass.

In any case, the crt runs $190-$250 plus the actual repair of the circuit that caused the failure. None of the estimates were approved.
