Need help finding schematic for a sony trintron KX-2501 Component TV.

When the picture comes up it looks great. Some times the Raster never comes up and a high pitched whine is heard. When the power is cycled several times or the set is left on for a while the picture appers. The sound is always there and is very good also. Model year is 1978 S/N is 202978.

The circuitry is not all that different than other Sonys that age. My guess is that it needs electrolytic caps, and could be fixed without a schematic.

I have one of these old beasts waiting for a proper burial, it needs a stat block and it is one of the things that differ from other Sonys. Mainly it was the Profeel CRT that was different. One other thing IIRC is that the KX2501 had seperate HV and horiz sweep.

Mine needs the stat block and a bunch of electrolytics in the dynamic convergence circuit, and possibly elsewhere. I have a print for a KPR4110 which should get you through the power supply and a few other things. I also have a print for the VTX1100 tuner but I don't think I can find it anytime this decade.

If you want this old beast running, mine is up for grabs. It has a VERY strong CRT, but it has the wrong stat block in it so the convergence is off.

Also possibly on the block are both a VTX1000 and a VTX1100 Which I don't use. I also actually have an MLV1100 which makes these things stereo. I have some of the original owner's manuals as well. I might be able to dig up the control cable too.

If you want the KX2501 you can have it for carrying it out of my house. It's on the second floor, and located in Cleveland, Ohio.

I kinda hate to give up this good vintage stuff, I liked the Profeel partly because it seemed to have a tighter screen pitch. I didn't like the Profeel because the GTE Sylvania E48s were out. The delta type CRT was always a better screen pitch, that's maybe why PC monitors use it. (They are not delta gun though, too much of PITA to converge for the application)

Anyway, the monitor is free to a good home, other things cost. I will part with the KX2501 owner's manual if you take the set. I just can't give away the tuners or the stereo decoder.

The trick is to have the speakers. It took me YEARS to get a set of OEM speakers for my KPR36XBR. I can't even remember what Profeel speakers look like.

If you, like me, like to have schematics for what I own, there is one place I could try. I know the owner and they were a Sony Signature dealer forever. Nice guy, and I don't think they need the print for something that old. Might already be gone though. They outsourced their service several years ago. That is one of the reasons I don't work there anymore. Yes I can sell, but I don't want to.

Now for some reason it always FUBARs my email addy when I give it in proper form, so here goes:

Buzz me on that if you're interested in any of this stuff. It's not doing me much good.
