When this tv tries to startup there is a flash over from the scan coils to the tube seems very strange alls nice and clean around that area. Any ideas what would cause this. I'm baffled as usual. Thanks for any info. Mark

Check for an OC tuning cap. On some sets (eg old Philips chassis) such a fault can pinhole the CRT.

Yeah, we're pretty baffled as usual ourselves. Make? Model Number? Throw in the year it was made and it might also help us get a mental picture of your tv set.
