LD player questions

Got a Pioneer CLD-1070, which I want to adopt into my home theatre, but it has TWO problems.

Drawer has a broken gear so it "clunk clunk clunks" and gets stuff all the time.

Another is while it can play an LD movie with good picture (though sometimes takes a long time to seek search), it will NOT play a music CD.. It recognizes a music CD, but when I press PLAY, it seeks for ages, and gives up.

Any ideas for repair/parts?

If you haven't done so, gently clean the lens using a cotton swab just damp with pure isopropyl alcohol. That may be all it needs

As far as the gear, only source may be a junker of a model from the same series. I don't know if Pioneer still has repair parts.

If you're really patient, you can make a replacement gear out of nylon rod stock. Of course it helps tremendously if you have a lathe.
