What does this have to do with electronics?

Maybe he's planning to add an OBDII system to his engine. ;)

Try rec.crafts.metalworking instead. I'm not familiar with snowmobile engines myself, but if you can describe the engine or post some pictures, I can probably make a few suggestions.

It depends on the go-cart itself as to the type of engine. If it's a simple tube steel frame with a simple sprocket drive rear axle you'll want a horizontal shaft engine. Preferably a four stroke in the 5-9 hp range. Power transmission is done by way of a drive chain and an centrifical clutch off the main shaft of the engine. The clutch can be gotten at any small engine shop or cycle/scooter shop.

Why bother with a snowmobile engine?
