Bug inside LCD monitor!!! A real one!

I have a small bug that was crawling around inside my Sony LCD monitor. It was just inside the screen above the part the generates color....I don't know much about LCDs. Well, it up and died and now it looks like a bunch of dead pixels.

How easy would it be for me to open up the monitor and clean this guy out? Could he be in the plasma goo?

Thanks.

Huh? Most of that email doesn't make any sense. If the bug died on the circuit board, fluids from it could cause any number of issues. If you can see where it is, just open the cover and remove the bug. The circuit board can be cleaned carefully with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol.

I think he means the bug is in the optical path, I can only think that it is behind the LCD, between the plastic lens and the panel on the backlight side, unless this particular monitor has a protective lens over the front of the LCD.

@ the OP, It isn't in the liquid crystal, that's for sure, so it must be stuck in the backlight side I'd guess. It can be gotten out, however I'd not advise you do it yourself unless you are confident you can completely dissasemble the monitor and remove the backlight without damaging the panel. Very delicate operation.

I'd suggest taking it to a repair person.

Sorry, I meant that I could physically see a little black bug crawling just inside the screen. It may have been blocking the backlight, I'm not sure. Anyway, I was playing with the screen from the display side and I think I squashed the littler bugger.

I'll bring it in to a local shop and see what they can do. I thought maybe I could tear it apart easily. I was a controls engineer for 7 years....

means the bug is in the optical path, I can only think that it

There has been a lot of that this summer (google groups). I think Phillips were replacing units under warranty but I got mine out by turning it off and leaving a bright light on just at the rear of the screen where the air vents are.
