This stereo unit is about 20 years old and the display is gone. Where is the battery and what does it look like? I can't find it, but I don't know what I am looking for.Help please!

Why do you think a backup battery will restore a non working display?

most likely the back lite globes have burnt out.. to replace you will have to remove the display to get to the globes. this is common with this type of display.this is not a job for somebody who doesn't know what he is doing. take to a tech who does know.

dont know this unit, so maybe I'm off beam here, but surely this is a relatively straightforward repair - dismantle the unit, front panel etc. and solder in a new bulb (usually about 12v) ?? Maybe the disassembly would be the hardest part, but as for the electronics part I dont see why even a novice couldn't try it .
