Xeltek's SUperpro III on Linux ? (DOSBOX/WINE/whatever) ?

Hi to all. I have Dual Opteon box that runs 64-bit Gentoo Linux and I'm trying to bring my chip programmer Superpro III to life, but have no luck so far.

I have managed to install the software in both versions- Windows vesion on Wine and DOS version on DOSBOX. Both versions run fine, except they can't detect programmer on any LPT port. Hardware is not at fault, since under Win2k everything works fine.

Any ideas (except using Widows/DOS) ?

Regards,

Branko

Are you one of those 'it HAS to be Linux' guys? Your problem is precisely why I have dual boot machines. Yeah, DOS for those things that do best under DOS. Or, you can fight your way and make it work. Some battles aren't woth fighting IMHO. GG

I'm noti inssisting on it working under wine/Linux. Still, it would be nice since this would bean less rebooting between Gentoo and Win2K on my machine. I'm not proficint with wine and have hoped that someone has tweaked config files and made it work.

Since Optron can't switch to 16-bit mode when in 64-bit mode, I have strong suspicion that this might be reason for my problem.

Many applications have 16-bit driver for the hardware and if SP3 fails in the same group, this means that the driver silently croaks.

I will try this on 32-bit Gentoo today...
