inverter

Hi

I want to build the inverter on the following page. It is a common inverter. Just like to know if the transformer need to be center tapped like the one shown. The transformer I want to use only has 4 wires, 2 input and 2 output obviously. So the question is, I should just ignore the center tap wire connected to the diode and power supply ??

Robert just a starting out...

Note that the +12 V DC connects to the center tap of the transformer. This tap is required in this circuit. Dave

Also note that the capacitors are backwards.

Which could get interesting if the specified tantalum caps are the military style hermetic metal cased types - the bead types just go off like match heads!
