I need a 'hand crank charger' schematic or example.

Hi,

I'm looking at making my own hand crank charger.

I do know that I can find "hand crank chargers", by doing that search on Google.com, no problem.

But, I want very much to make my own, and would like some advice.

The ones advertised vary in description, but claim that by turning the crank for 5 minutes, you basically get the same amount in cell phone battery life time (if you have no other means to charge the phone).

The heck with that. I want to make one that gives you 10 minutes of battery life time, for 5 minutes of winding the crank.

Please direct me to a site/page that has a simple diagram of what would be needed for a portable crank device. Of course, this device would have to have some kind of battery / capacitor storage, to temporarily hold the energy produced by the 5 minutes or so of cranking. Please just help get me started if you know of such schematics.

Thanks, George

No problem if you have stronger arms. Perhaps just buy one and change the gearing by a factor of 2.
