Fluorescent ballasts interfering with ADSL?

My ADSL has started giving up - at night. Just wondering - are my (or the the council's) electronic ballasats (my house compact fluorescents or the council's streetlamps) interfering with it? Google tells me ballasts operate from 32.75 to 50kHz, and ADSL operates from 25.875 kHz to 1.104 MHz. Possible?

Why are there Marines on Navy ships?
Sheep would be too obvious.

If its a growlux or some other gardening /pet light. I know of some people putting a rectifier in to turn it into DC electric, Apparently it gives out less interference.. White Widow in full flower oscillates at around 455 kHz

They will be happy if I feed my compact fluorescents DC? Rectified to the peak value of mains?

Anyway, I don't think that will help, the interference occurs whether or not I have any of my lights running. Must be streetlighting, or something completely different - like yet another dodgy connection on the world's worst telephone system.

The dress doesn't make you look fat. It's that ice cream and chocolate you eat
that makes you look fat.

You should have the telephone company check that out for you. I have seen bad telephone lines from water getting in to their outside terminal blocks, loose connections, defective line equipment, defective telephone unit on the line, or defective insulation cause services interference, but not anything else.

I have never seen a compact florescent interfere with DSL or ADSL service. I have seen these types of lights interfere with AM and some Short Wave radio reception, and with TV type remote controls only.
