Have noticed that on some of the spiraled, power saving bulbs, they are not to be used with timers. What would be the reason for this? And, some do not issue that warning; are they OK? Thanks.,

They only mean electronic timers as they need a small curreent flow when off, which can cause flashing on these lamps - mechanical timers would be fine.
