70VAC transformers

Hi all,

Does anyone know a manufacture of a 70-0-70VAC transformer ? All the ones listed in Farnell are 55-0-55 tops, Clairtronic only list upto 55V...

any ideas for anywhere which would make custom ones without breaking the bank ?

(UK)

Cheers, Chris

This company makes many transformers, both standard models and custom versions:

As you undoubtedly know, you can use two transformers - that's not inexpensive?

If you use a toroid, you can wind buck or boost windings of your own to adjust the voltage. Easy on the larger transformers where the "volts per turn" is higher.

Primary voltage? Frequency? Secondary current? Regulation?

use two 70V transformers with the secondaries in series.

or if you can find a transformer with two 15 volt secondaries (such are available this side of the globe) use them to "extend" the ends of the

55V transformer.

for a one-off doing this will almost certainly be cheaper than a custom transformer (unless you're prepared to wind your own from junk parts)

Thanks for everyones feedback.

I managed to find a company who will make one for a good price, its more like 1000va or over, so its a big un! Would rather have 1 large one than 2 smaller ones, just trying to keep the space they take up as small as possible..

cheers chris
