Can You Guess Which Micro This Is?

I'm having trouble taking clear, well-lighted photographs. If I get too close, the lens blocks the flash; if I back off, it ends up being blurry.

Once I get my lighted magnifier, I should be able to take better pictures through it.

A flatbed scanner works surprisingly well.

Use a white plastic grocery bag over the flash to diffuse the light. You might want to add a stop to compensate.

The adapter connects to the J1850 (and, in some cars, the GMLAN) bus in a GM car. It emulates the commands of the factory XM Satellite Receiver module; as far as the stereo head unit can tell, it's talking to the XM module. The module connects to (and controls) an iPod audio jukebox and routes the audio output as well as song information into the car stereo head unit.

How's this?

Really?

I didn't even think to try it, as I expected the imager to be focused to the surface of the glass. There are some capacitors, connectors, etc. on the board which stick up and would keep it several cm away from the glass.

I'll try it and see what happens...

I think Henri wins the prize!

Not only do the oscillator pins match, but several other pins also make perfect sense. If we assume that the 6-pin header is a BDM port, then the pins on the header and connected to the right pins on the micro. The CAN TX line leads directly to pin 1 of an 8-pin part which is probably an MCP2551. The 5 DIP switches in the red package on the right lead directly to 5 GPIO pins.

Anyone know where I can find a cheap development kit for the MC9S12C? Then I can ID the part exactly. :)

Still a mystery, however, is U6. This 14-pin part definitely seems to have something to do with the J1850 interface (two of them, actually - one to the XM receiver module, and the other to the stereo head unit). So far I have had no luck finding any likely candidates for this sucker.

Anyway, thanks, guys, for all your help! As another poster said, this stuff is fun! :) :)
