AVR32 Development Tools?

Does anyone know of any third party development tools for the Atmel AVR32 family besides IAR? We just got in some EVK1100 development boards bundled with Atmel's AVR32 Studio and a crippled version of IAR Embedded Workbench. The Atmel suite seems pretty hideous and non- intuitive, and the IAR single seat license is 4000 bucks! Is there anything else out there?

, but the instructions only refer to using GCC and GDB from the command line rather than the studio program (which is no doubt a lot simpler).

If you are using the AP7000 parts then there is also a version of Linux available from Atmel.

We will be releasing an AVR32 toolset toward the end of the year, initially targetting the UC32 chips. We will use the AVR Studio32 as the main IDE (Eclipse based plugin), and our simple to use IDE for people who like, well, something simple to use.

As we are the leader in AVR C compiler sales, doing an AVR32 compiler is a no brainer...

Much as I like you, my dear man, I see no connection between doing well with AVR and doing well with AVR32. AVR32 is, to all intents and purposes, an ARM in drag--it wears the same stockings, it even has the same style of register shadowing as an ARM. AVR and AVR32 are worlds apart, as I'm sure you know and, to my mind the only commonality are those three letters.
