Why No Live Rewind Devices for Radio

We have DirecTV and the control device (sort of like a DVR) allows us to watch TV, and then back up during a live broadcast. Why isn't there anything like that for radio. If I listen for a few minutes and get distracted, I'd like to rewind and continue. I think there audio tape versions, but what about hard drives, or some such storage device?

My XM MyFi has a feature much like this. It'll record a 5 hour loop. Many more features that I don't use too (channel select on performer, etc.).

Feed the audio into an old VCR. A T-120 will give you 6 hours; a T-180 gives 8 hours. If you have a 2nd unit, have that recording a blank channel and have the Lap Counter displayed on that; feed the Video Out of that into the Video In of the 1st unit (a "click track").

No technical reason. Recording audio will be much less demanding than video. It's probably a matter of what manufacturers think it's worth on the market.

connect an antenna to the video input and you can record the entire AM broadcast band :)

Probably the place where this needed the most is on a car radio. I'm in and out of the car a lot as I shop in our small town. I may catch 15 minutes of a 60 minute program.
