Whats up with vac?

I have a quick question. There are two electronics stores near me, Orvac and Marvac. We also all know of Rayovac. Where does this suffix vac come from? my neibhor said he thinks it has something to do with the first computer being based on vacuum tubes. Any help?

But wasn't Rayovac around in the early days of radio, when they tended to be run of batteries?
