Hi All
Can anyone suggest whats best to use to hold the windings of an Air Coil with about 7 turns, about 12mm long - I know i can use polystyrene cement but are there any other options like maybe candle wax ?
Thanks Shelton.

If it's air wound, you're really supposed to use a large enough gauge of wire to support itself.

I just saw an article that recommends polyurethane varnish to hold a crystal radio's tuning coil windings in place so the insulation can be sanded off for a wiper. The article said that shellac was traditionally used but isn't really strong enough. Whatever you end up with, be sure to test first to make sure it doesn't dissolve the insulation on your wire!
