Veroboard- newbie question

I am making a LED array with each row to have 7 LEDs joined + to - to + etc and the appropriate resistor on the end. This row of 7+1 resistor will be replicated a few times down the board. Postive and negative wires will run down each end to daisy chain the rows together.



My question is with the veroboard that I have. It has the copper strips running down the longer length of the board. A single row of 7 LEDs and 1 resistor to fit how I want it will mean that they 'jump/span' across the copper strips. Is this correct or should each row be running 'with' a copper strip down the board?

I'm in the middle of doing a simular project. Best to make your own pcb, or for prototyping just use perf board and solder leads together of the led's and wire. If you need help with the pcb, I may be convinced to help out. My last board has space for 1280 leds and runs on 140 volts. Email me if you want help with subject of led.

You may place your parts on the vero board in whatever arrangement works for your application - just remember to cut the copper strips where you don't want a connection.

My question is I guess if I want to cut the strips if they run down the board with the LEDs/transistors spanning over multiple copper strips?

I'm no help today, Ben, but might I ask where you buy veroboard from?

Just curious if it comes in a bigger size elsewhere. Usually i use Small Bear pad-per-hole board and just bend the pins over (like lots have suggested).

450mm x 95mm is the largest Veroboard I've seen. (about 18"x 3.75")

price seems a little high, but it is the genuine article, not a knock-off. (and those aren't US dollars) knock-offs in smaller pieces are about half the price by area. Bye. Jasen
