how to increase 6vdc to 12vdc

hey everyone.. i have 4 AA batteries and need to sqeeze 12v out of them. can this be done?

Hi, Sam. The easiest way to do it is with a 555/voltage doubler. Here's a link:

The output voltage is slightly less than 2X the input voltage, and it's not regulated. That means the output voltage will drop if you need more current.

The circuit shown is good for about 25mA with no more than a volt of ripple.

There are various methods, all of which involve active electronics.

To suggest the best answer one would need to know more info like load current and ripple / regulation.

12000V from 6 isn't a huge problem 12V from 6 is much easier. have any idea of how much current or power you need (how many amps or how many watts)
