It uses the standard pin-out. In this case, half-duplex refers to the limitations of the netwrok card(s) being used.

Well, RJ45s have 8 pins, not 4. And yes, half-duplex uses the same pins as ful duplex. The difference between half & full duplex is whether the port can receive & transmit at the same time, (Full can, half can't), which has nothing to do with the number of pins or pairs required.

If you're asking because you want to save on wiring or somesuch, what you really want to know is how many pins/pairs are required for differnet Ethernet standards. If you describe your requirements in more detail, I'm sure someone here will be able to answer your question more usefully. :)

Incorrect. 10bT & 100bT both require two pairs, 1000bT requires all 4 pairs.

RJ45 uses 8 connectors (4 pairs)... RJ11 uses 4 connectors.

Not really ! An RJ45 connector has 8 pins, or if you prefer 4 pairs of wires. Two independent full duplex Ethernet channels can be run down a single length of cat 5 cable.

Since the OP asked if half duplex uses all four pins then the answer I gave was correct !

the op asked if half duplex used 4 pins (like FDX) it does. so the answer is yes. you replied No, only two - nothing was said about pairs you implied only two pins (wires) are used for HDX.
