Adding Text to Live Video

Jan 22, 2006 2 Replies

I want to make a device that will take in live video add some text and output it with the text,

the text will be Line 1 and Line 2 and i want it to change using the parallel port so when i make pin2 high it will add Line 1 and when i make pin3 high it will add Line 2 to the live video,

i read somewhere about using a PIC and LM1881 sync seperator but i really wouldnt know where to start and wondered if there was a site with a guide or something. Thanks

Point your favorite search engine towards OSD, or "On Screen Display" chips. There are a number of them available, and if this is for a personal project you can probably pull the chip and support circuits from a newer SVGA monitor that has other problems.
