WIND GENERATORS COMBINED ?

Hi all



How exactly 2 or more wind generators in a wind generators plant are combined so they will charge a common battery stock ?



I mean how electrically they are connected/combined , since they are asynchronous in frequency and in voltage output ?

This is done all the time.

Each turbine would operate independentantly of each other so they would be paralleled at the battery.

If using MPPT for each one, the controllers are just connected to the same battery bank.

If not using MPPT, then each turbine is just connected to the same battery bank after their rectifiers and a single dump load and controller is used to regulate the battery voltage.

Hello,

there are also large wind generators connected directly to the power grid, they must be synchronous in frequency and in voltage output. But sometimes they use an electronic AC to DC to AC converter between the generator and the grid. The generator may run with its own frequency different to the net frequency.

Each floating generator followed by an ordinary 6 pulse rectifiers in parallel, can feed a common DC load.

The other alternative is that you create a private 50/60/400/whatever Hz AC network and then rectify that network for battery charging (much more demanding)
