Wifi antenna placement

quite common to have sand and clay between the floor joist under the floorboards in old multi storage buildings, dampens sound and is somewhat fire retardant

I can't tell if you're commenting on Jim Thomson's sand damped speaker enclosure, or my water damped version. I'll assume you're addressing my comments.

The volume of the space between the inside and outside boxes was about

4 cubic feet or 30 gallons which would add about 250 lbs of water. I'm not sure of these numbers as it's been a long time, but about 250 lbs seems about right.

I was about 19 years old. While most of my friends were building hot rods, I was designing (err... throwing together) radios, ham radio repeaters, helmet radios, speakers, wireless speakers, selenium rectifier replacements, dynamotor replacements, vibrator replacements, ignition system replacements, sewing machine motor controllers, alarm systems, and dozens of other contraptions the were admittedly terrible designs, but which worked well enough to support my student lifestyle and gasoline habit. I probably made more mistakes than necessary, mostly because I refused to listen to experts like you, and preferred to make my own screwups. If you suspect that I'm arrogant today, you should have seen me back then.

It doesn't matter and I may have done that accidentally. The inner box, with the loudspeaker attached, was essentially "floating" inside the outer box. I tried to make the two exactly concentric with bracing, but never quite succeeded. Anyway, parallel wall reverb requires an air gap to produce standing waves. It doesn't work with a water gap with conducts the sound directly between the inner and outer box. The idea was simply to increase the mass of the enclosure, so it wouldn't rattle on the extremely low frequencies and high sound levels. That part worked splendidly. The water also provided some dampening to reduce resonances at high frequencies. Something more dense and viscous would have been better, but water was cheap and easy.

You still haven't said anything nice in the last 20 odd comments. You're well on your way to confirming my suspicion that you are incapable of doing so.

At $0.25 a gallon, it was not that great a feat to acquire gas money, even for the race car jocks, like my older brother.

Show me where I made a proclamation of being an expert, asswipe.

COMPARED to you, I likely am, because I do not go 'round making shit like you just did. Compared to you, I would be at the bottom of the totem pole. But you likely have that premise ass backwards too.

It DOES matter, and you lacking knowledge of even what I referred to is a huge tell. I was talking about the actual driver chamber, not you retard's damping case method.

Dumbass. The reference was to the interior of the inner chamber, not your stupid outer box. Parallel walls virtually guarantees standing waves will be generated. DOH!

I know what the method is for, dopey f*ck.

Cheap assholes who wanted to use particle board, and thin particle board at that needed to compensate.

Thing is... you forgot to compensate for your brain.

Sand would work. Dry particulate. Water would cause a direct transfer. Bad choice. Big fail with thin walls, and if the walls are thick enough, the compensation need is reduced to near nil.

4 inches of sand is overkill.

You're an idiot, and now a stalker as well I suppose.

Your capacity to make a valid assessment falls right in there with your qualifications for it. Right at nil.

WOW!!! Jeff, you scored a 7-bagger (so far). I think that's a record.

IOW, you're a goddamned Usenet retard. Bag that, dumbfuck.

So, you recognized the finger, AW? You can't resist a response. You are so easy. Please respond with 8 or more replies so I can capture the new record.

If the quality is lacking, then quantity might suffice. Quantity has been known to win wars, and therefore might work for Usenet discussions.

It would probably have been easier to honor my request for saying something nice, than to continue the apparently endless production of insults and profanity. It should be obvious by now that the insults have no effect on any of the participants in sci.electronics.design, and that some other strategy will be necessary. Much as I secretly enjoy baiting some people, the results have become so predictable as to become a terminal bore. Unless some improvements in quality a forthcoming, I'll probably fade into the background noise or retire due to lack of information and entertainment value.

You're probably correct about this being a new record: We're half way through the month today and if the present rate of insults continue, we should also have a new monthly record.

Oh sure. Like hundreds of thousands of bullets is better than one hydrogen bomb?

You want him to be honorable? On what planet do you live?

I don't think you can do that. I think you are as helpless as he is when it comes to resisting a retort.

I would be interested to see the results.

There mere fact that you are oblivious to the fact that I have been nice to certain folks is a huge tell about you that you are an oblivious twit.

"It probably would have been easier" if the shit you spewed was based on actual fact.

Not a record but it's been five years, or better, since someone last scored a Seven-DimBulb. It is impressive.

I was thinking of WWII and Vietnam. German weapons in WWII, such as rocket and jet propulsion, were generally more advanced than the weapons of the allies, yet mass production of mediocre weapons won the day. In Vietnam, the US had far better weapons (B52 bombers), yet the Viet Cong won. Nuclear weapons tends to produce MAD (mutually assured destruction) and therefore doesn't count.

If that is what it takes for him to honor my request, then yes. How hard is it to say something nice?

I asked Google the same question: The links offered seem to be more appropriate for alien visitors than for residents. If Google can't find it, it doesn't exist. Therefore, I'm must not be living on any planet.

Yes, you're right, but I was hoping nobody would notice. The secret to a long and stress free life is to never waste energy resisting temptation. Hmmm... seems to be a common philosophy:

Come back in 15 days and we shall see.
