Same with my pa, so far. But one never knows. Most of the folks we care for around here thought everything was going to continue as usual until one event took it all away. Sometimes as little as an innocent fall that then resulted in the diagnosis of a broken hip.
Try an AMC theater, if there are any in your area. I go there exclusively when I want to see - and hear - a movie; they're very proud of their sound system, and that it doesn't blast you out of the theater - they even tone down the explosions and stuff.
And they always have a cute "turn off your telephone" or "take the crying baybee to the lobby" bit before the real movie, and with the surround sound, it sounds like the noise is actually coming from the audience - it's just to make a point, of course.
About G&S - I love them! I played Pirate Lieutenant Samuel in my HS's production of "Pirates of Penzance." :-)
Did they razz him about his young, vivacious wife: "You know, at your age, rambunctious sex could be dangerous - even fatal!" "So, if she dies, I'll have to find another one."
It probably wouldn't be this bad if the government/union-controlled schools hadn't been systematically dumbing down the kids for a couple of generations.
Or.....since teenagers can still hear out near 20 kHz, the Monster cable guys can still sell them on the benefits of squeezing the last 0.2 dB out of their stereo's last octave. The geezers^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hboomers have no need for anything with that sort of performance.
