It doesn't actually have to be gunpowder as the propellant. Or you could simply say that the term 'gunpowder' simply refers to "propellant", regardless of what the substance actually is.

They have to. They explode in milliseconds. There would be no way to get oxygen into them in that time frame.

The Nevada site (Yucca Mountain) is not the best technical solution, but got past political obstacles to better ones.

Fixing busted nuclear reactors sounds to me like maybe Navy can do in the unlikely event military can un-bust a busted civilian nuclear reactor...
However, military surely appears to me good for response to emergencies, starting at or a little after 1.5 seconds after someone with authority to do so issues a command to get military folks capable of handling some emergency to start handling the emergency.
That sounds to me that military can't repair a civilian nuclear reactor, but military does sound to me likely capable of responding to emergencies.
Since the first 2 products in the chain from 235 have 1/2 lives of 1 billion years and 1 day I doubt the accumulation accumulation (when in Rome) can be such a "small amount of time".
Why would you have to "shed" that orbital velocity when you can simply take it into account with your directional calculations?

Stopping the merry go round is one approach. Any successful duck hunter knows to LEAD the duck.
But again you're trying to stop the merry go 'round as if that is actually necessary. With good calculation it wouldn't be.

If the mothers have low activity, then the daugter products are produced slowly. So they still don't contribute much radioactivity.
U235 has a half life of 4.5 billion years. Whatever daughter products are produced is done so over a period of 4.5b years, and even highly radioactive products will be produced so slowly as to not contribute much radioactivity.
Imagine the extreme case - the U235 decay products are extremely radioactive and decay in 1 microsecond. That isn't going to change the measured radioactivity, and nor is the other extreme where they have extremely long half times.

Bullet cartridges are never 'filled'. They are always designed to have air space in them after the prescribed fill of propellant. A huge air space, in fact.

Yes. Use real weapons, if needed. Something as simple as a remote controled version of the M72, mounted outside the station where the back blast won't damage anything.

Velocity is a vector. How do you change direction without acceleration (additional energy)?
If you're shooting someone at the center of the Merry-Go-Round, you do have to cancel its velocity (aim off-center). Since the muzzle velocity of a gun is many orders of magnitude greater than the Merry-Go-Round, it's not usually much of a problem. Another analogy would be the Coriolis "force" and artillery.
Thus canceling the velocity component.

"Should" have acceptable risk. 40 years (10 more for San Onofre) active reactors is acceptable. 10,000 years of radioactive waste dump into the coast between San Diego and Santa Barbara is not. We can not wait for Washington or Sacramento. We should put it on the ballot and let the people decide. Anyone want to join us?

The ammunition for target shooting is always at least slightly compressed.
Big air space and powder rolling around inside leads to inconsistant ignition so even for non-target grade ammunition the air space is minimized.
The powder in shotgun ammunition is always compressed.
