Wrong newsgroyp. Try news:rec.antiques.radio+phono Give them the Brand and Model numbers, as well as the symptoms, and they may be able to help.

Thanks for the info, I'll follow it up.
There is no faulty machine, I need to know the recording characteristics so as to accurately equalise some archive recordings.
