I've found the same with FireFox. I have eight windows open now and TaskManager reports 719M for it.

I generally average about twice that. Even at home I almost always have at least ten open. Some don't get closed for weeks.

I do both. ;-) When I need a quick reference the printed sheet is much faster to find. Stydying a dead tree datasheet is easier, too. Then there are the notes scribbled in the margins and the highlights of important gotchas.

I just closed everything except search.com and it's at 655M. I also erased the history, which made it go up to 1.5G for the five minutes it was thinking. FireFox has become a pig just like InternetExploder.

I use Firefox. It seems to have a huge limit on the number of pages. Perhaps it is limited only by the amount of RAM you have.

I just recalled that Stepha Fry said something like: "There is not enough vomit in the whole world" about windows.

At 650M for one page open, it is a big fat resource hog. It also locks up when it doesn't get an immediate connection. It *was* very nice but has turned into M$ish bloat.

I see about 130MB for one page open. When Firefox can't get a connection it simply says, "Connection timed out".

Part of it is how Windows 'manages' memory usage. If you close Firefox, then 'reopen last session' it will be a lot smaller for the same open pages. You can close a lot of open pages and the memory usage not change. I have had it drop by 75% by closing Firefox & reopening the session. It's like they think you are going to reopen every page you've visited since you opened Firefox, or any other browser. It doesn't help that I have Windows Media Player open under Firefox.
