USPTO: drawings show only partially or not at all

I use Firefox with AlternaTIFF plug-in (free IIRC). I also recently bought TIFF Combine (charged-off to a lawya I'm doing patent searches for :-)

TIFF Combine appends all the TIFF pages into a single document, which I then (typically) print to a PDF.

Hello All,

When clicking on drawings after finding a patent on the USPTO server the correct page comes up. Sometimes it starts to load a drawing but stops after 20% or so. Other times the area where the drawing used to show up remains blank. I am using Mozilla.

Do you have similar problems? How can one get at the dawings without using their user interface?

Hello Jim,

Thanks. The first one is what USPTO suggested, I am just a bit skittish downloading *.exe stuff from the web. But that one seems to be safe. I was just puzzled that my browser sometimes does load the pics, and sometimes doesn't.

Do you remember the vendor? Via Google I only found a myriad of "shareware" sites for it and I am certainly not going to download anything from there. Plus it might not be legal copies, who knows.

Hello Jim,

Thank you. That one actually had come up via Google but because it contained "cool" I had mentally grouped it into the wrong crowd.

the Debian package is called "libtiff-tools". I'm sure there's a Windows version out there somewhere.
