Extremely practical! You can stick images in reports and/or email them around the world. When your testing out a bunch of circuit candidates, you can save the images and review data later on. You can also do data dumps so you can analyze the data in some sort of program (e.g. MatLab, MathCad,...). Wonderful for statistical analysis. DSOs with network functionality make producing documentation for customers, your own notes and repair folk so much easier!
When I need to document or work on low duty cycle pulse stuff, I use a DSO. When I need to trouble shoot stuff, look for noise problems, or bring a circuit up, I use an analog scope. Sometimes I use a DSO in tandem with an analog scope. Use the analog scope to figure out how to set up the DSO.
Our GPIB instruments are connected to a box that goes from GPIB Ethernet. I can talk to instrument stacks in another room via ethernet. Really handy being able to do screen grabs and data dumps from our network analyzers and other equipment.
