Upload BOM to Digikey or others?

Question

Got two designs shortly before the finish line. Nowadays contract houses want every li'l pull-up resistor and stuff spec'd with mfg and P/N. Digikey and others offer uploading of a BOM so I did that in CSV and then again tried XLS. CSV doesn't work at all, with XLS it takes it but shows only around 10 parts and then bombs right on the first line.

Is there some way to do it? I mean, 0.1u in one column and C0402 in the other ain't that hard to understand in this day and age of computation machines.

I use Eagle but no Newark/Farnell "DesignLink" anymore as I found that to be too unreliable for me. I don't really care which distributor as long as it saves me from having to fill the whole BOM by hand.

The Digikey one worked for me with CSV.  It does want just two columns, so if you didn't hack up the Eagle output, that's probably the trouble. BOMs have to be 'way more specific than "0.1u".  Tolerance? Voltage rating?  Dielectric?  Packaging?  If all your schematic has is value, yes you will have more work to do.

Mouser claims they have that ability but I have not tried it. Good luck.

Well, after receiving a major black eye when using DesignLink in Cadsoft Eagle (via Farnell/Newark) I won't try that anymore. I just completed two boards, formatted the BOM into Excel and filled in by hand as usual. Takes an hour or two longer but then I know it's done right.
