For debugging/repair purposes, does anyone make some kind of widget that you plug into another widget's LCD display ribbon cable connector, suss out what kind of protocol it's dealing with from some list of common display controller ICs, then say send the data via serial/USB to a PC so you can see what the display _would_ be showing in a GUI and/or log it?
