Okay, reasonable. Would that work on a 30-ps edge, though? The fastest unity-gain stable op amp I've used is the THS4304, at 3.8 GHz and 830 V/us (!). I expect that a fast single-ended MMIC would be easier to get working, even if it needed a bit of hand work at final test.

Yes and no. In a fast sampler, the layout is the circuit to a considerable degree, and the layout is copyright.

Ours is also potted in hard epoxy with a bit of foam tape over the txline bits. We built it for an outfit in Oregon called Stevens Water, who wound up not paying us, so we're looking for other licensees.

I think the blowby comp needn't be super fast. I'll check my Tek Concepts book about that.

That's a nice trick.

The front-end of the sampler could be a little mouse-bite PCB, with the SMA, a glopped throwaway component.

The tiny BGA GaN fets are fragile and basically un-repairable, so these output drivers are throw-away subassemblies.

Yeah, only the second time that's happened to us in 17 years of doing consulting. The first one was a guy I quite liked, who skipped the country, apparently just ahead of the law.

All our customers in India are pay in advance or ILOC. They pay in a year or two, if ever.

Our policy is that any customer who goes over 90 days is in the pre-payment category forever.

That usually means a refundable retainer. One or two active customers are in that position.
