Long shot, but have you a 466 anywhere among them?

I have a sick one that you can have for the cost of shipping. Was a nice scope, till one day it quit working when I put it in storage mode. Probably something simple, once it's figured out.

Thanks for the kind offer, Phil. I have a sick one myself that I'm about to attempt to get working again - purely for love, obviously. I've always had a hankering for the 466 after seeing some experiments carried out with one on a BBC TV Open University course a *long* time ago. I'd take you up on your offer, but unless you're in Yurp (which I guess you're not) then even the cheapest postage is going to be a killer. It's a real shame. But please disabuse me of my ignorance in the unlikely event you're my side of the pond after all. :-)

I own one TEK 45(?) something, not sure of the last number. But it died, and now rests on the bottom shelf :^( It use to be the display (X-Y) for an old (grating) spectrometer. One thing I really love about analog 'scopes is the X-Y display. DSO's always have to take a breathe now and then.

My everyday 'scope is a TDS1001B, (I think it cost $1k when purchased new ~10-15 years ago.)* I know exactly how far away to keep it away from stuff during testing. The other DSO's I've used are noisier.

I miss the Cincinnati chili joints. I am really glad to be going "back to Ohio", and I am glad that "my city is not gone". It damned near is though. XY can be ratty on a digital scope. I assume it sorta samples both channels now and then.

Occasionally Tek launched a turkey, though (at least in the old days) most were pretty good.

The 7104, with its multichannel-plate CRT - has to be near the top. I guess there were some in the 11K series that also had MCPs - but they weren't 'first'.

{disclosure: I worked for Tek designing scopes in a couple of the groups, including 7K series, but wasn't part of the 7104 team. Got to have one of the first units on my bench, though :)

We have a 7104. It's the only analog scope that we still use.

Nah, there's too much that analogue scopes can't do, especially looking back before the trigger and saving data forever. Analogue storage scopes are an intermediate case--their persistence of a half minute or so is enough to be useful. I have one, but it's broken, as I mentioned upthread.

The 2467 has better triggering than any of the others, except the TDS 694C.

My two 500 MHz 4-channel scopes are both CRT models, and are getting a bit on the dim side. I have to decide whether it's worth upgrading the displays to LCDs or whether I should just punt and get a Chinese one, e.g. a Siglent. AFAIK none of those are in the same class, but they're certainly smaller and have a lot more memory.

The newer Tek MDO4000s are pretty interesting, but they cost $12k at a minimum. I can get a lot of great boat anchors for that price.

Good to have the choice though!

I heard the 2467 was a 2465 with the MCP tube and more bandwidth. I used a 2465 and found the triggering to be s***ty, at least compared to older Teks like the 400s which had tunnel diode triggering.

Maybe I'm just spoiled.
