Try on sci.electronics.repair.

You'll need to be specific about the make and model, and provide more details about the failure (eg, did the problem happen gradually or suddenly, was there any external cause evident, what fixes have you already tried, etc.). But anyway, post that information to sci.electronics.repair, not to this group - this is not an appropriate group for this topic.

You have posted to the wrong NG; it should go to sci.electronics.repair but you also need to give much more information. Maker and model number as a minimum.

However, now you are here, unplug them from the mains supply. Wait TEN minutes (no less!) and plug in again. It often works, but not always.

They had the same problem on the shuttle today, one of the computer displays blanked out, after much mumbling they told Major Tom to switch it off and wait 5 seconds, and switch it back on

No thats what I call on line tech support.

BTW it worked. I prefered my "thump here" stickers

This is the position of the power switch that supplies (reduced) current to the tube filaments so that they'll warm up faster.

Some amps have slide switches on the back to enable/disable this feature. In between the main power switch and the slide switch there isn't much left to go wrong!

Presumably you have tried the switch on the receiver, instead of using the remote control?
